SECU FAMILY HOUSE
Sounds pretty homey right? Family house is a project that connects patients with an environment to recover from their treatments at UNC Hospitals. As part of art direction, me and my peers were tasked with creating pieces that would match the ambience of the environment and entertain our audience of patients and their families during a weary time in their life.
We designed artwork and a gallery space for the theme:
food is love
A mock up book cover for a flip book pamphlet that visitors can take
And here is what I designed for what Food Is Love means to me.
I’m a picky eater, addicted to the savory, buttery tastes of the South, despite the spice laden palette of my mother’s tongue. I was only excited to eat dinner when my mother was too tired to cook and we would resort to a frozen casserole we could heat up in the oven. The smells of pasta, cream and chicken soup, would bubble up in the kitchen and bring me comfort for all the bland carbs and fat I could finally eat that night.
The final design asset was a collection of abstract pieces that could be used in the decor for the SECU Family House. My group created a set of 4 pieces using the same color palette, below is one of mine:
